New Members 2018

Graz University of Technology (AUSTRIA), the University of Stuttgart (GERMANY) and the University of Sheffield (UNITED KINGDOM) have accepted the invitation by the 30th General Assembly on 20th October 2017 in Budapest and thus joined our network as of 1st January 2018.

In their acceptance speeches, these new Members said they appreciate our efforts delivering true and tangible value, such as unrivalled access to and exchange with networks of staff in like-minded institutions, a compelling and united voice for universities of science & technology, an attractive range of annual events per annum and many more.

Already in 2016, our Association decided to change the admission procedure for new Members from ´open application´ to ´by invitation only´. Moreover, our Articles of Association after amendment on 13th September 2017 no longer differentiate between categories of Members. As a result, we warmly welcomed Technion - Israel Institute of Technology as full Member.

This is another milestone in CESAER’s ongoing reforms aiming at bringing focus to the work of our network and strengthening our membership base. In a large member consultation during summer 2017, Members re-confirmed the general direction of the reforms of our Association and largely provided feedback on the proposed Strategy 2025, herewith testifying their collective determination to further our Association and determining priority areas.

We are delighted that these three outstanding universities are joining our European association of leading, doctorate-granting specialised and comprehensive universities of science & technology that champion excellence in higher education, training, research and innovation. Although our membership will remain focused and limited in the years to come, we might carefully consider, select and invite new Members that can add value to our network also taking into account the geographical coverage in countries where we are underrepresented.
