Task Force Research Infrastructures (TFRI)


The mission of the TFRI is to:

  • promote a fundamental and conceptual understanding of the roles of our Members in Research Infrastructures (RIs)
  • provide guidance to our Members for establishing institutional RI roadmaps outlining the policies for RI development, operation and use of universities feeding into regional, national, European and global RI roadmaps
  • act as a pool of experts to proactively influence the European policies and programmes for RI, including safeguarding the interests of the Members in the Long-Term Sustainability (LTS) of RIs
  • undertake concrete actions to safeguarding LTS RI
  • safeguard the interests of our Members in the development of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and the European Data Infrastructure (EDI and support our President K. Luyben in his participation in the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP)

The TFRI undertakes the following general activities:

  • convene twice a year at a Member institution followed by visits to its RIs
  • draft, revise and publish a paper on the role of universities of science & technology in RIs providing guidance to our Members and organise a workshop as described above
  • co-organise a high-level conference in October 2018 in Bucharest
  • prepare statements and briefings
  • liaise with relevant European institutions and bodies such as the European Commission, ESFRI and Science Europe
  • report on its work on an annual basis
