Vacancy for Policy Officer

We seek a Policy Officer to start as soon as possible working full-time at our Secretariat.

  • contribute to the aims and activities of our association
  • promote our association as stakeholder at European level
  • represent our association externally
  • serve and advise our governing bodies, committees and task forces


  • gather intelligence and provide high-quality and targeted information
  • initiate and contribute to positions of Members and decision-making
  • participate in and organise events and report thereon
  • initiate, monitor and support new strategies and activities
  • coordinate, liaise with and lobby activities of members at national and European institutions and stakeholder level


  • master degree
  • knowledge and experience in European policy-making processes and institutions
  • excellent oral and written communication and relationship building skills
  • ability to deliver high-quality results under pressure and working autonomously as well as in a small team
  • fluency, both spoken and written, in English and at least one other language widely spoken in Europe
  • excellent IT and social media skills
  • willingness to travel within Europe and beyond and work in non-office times such as evenings and weekends
  • excellent investigative skills
  • distinct integrity, loyalty and service- and result-orientation
  • legal entitlement to work in EU


  • experience with membership-based organisations and universities of science and technology
  • two years relevant working experience
  • network in European science and technology
  • knowledge of European research, education and innovation policies and funding programmes and related lobbying
  • experience of working with senior university leaders, senior academics and policy makers in an international context
  • track record in writing and editing articles, reports and policy papers


  • varied and dedicated international work experience within a multi-cultural and open setting in a small and dynamic team
  • position based at Kasteel van Arenberg in LEUVEN (BELGIUM)
