On 22 January, CESAER published an input note to help shape the upcoming European Research Area Act. This input note was submitted to the European Commission’s public consultation for the upcoming European Research Area (ERA) Act, reflecting dedicated contributions and input provided by our Members, and building on our recent publications related to the ERA (2023, 2024 and 2025), as well as other previous positions of our association.

In the input note CESAER shares recommendations for the ERA Act, calling for firm R&D investment targets, national roadmaps and coordinated action in key areas such as academic freedom, open science and research security to strengthen the ERA across the EU.

We express our gratitude to all the association’s task forces that contributed to the elaboration of the input note.
