Task Force Openness of Science & Technology

Back to overview

Mission, scope and objectives

The Task Force Openness of Science & Technology 2022-2023 addresses the following three main themes:

  1. Open science: The focus is on Research Data Management (RDM), advancement of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), advancement of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data and promotion of open access.

  2. Knowledge safety and security: The balance mentioned above is a delicate one and deserves active engagement by our association. Taking no measure would be naive. We need to prevent too many and the wrong measures which would reduce scientific integrity, academic freedom and institutional autonomy (including the freedom of universities to choose their partners) and hamper the competitiveness and scientific excellence of our Members.

  3. Citizen science: This task force explores effective two-way engagement (outreach and engagement) between our Members and society at large in order to create shared understanding around the role of key technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence and quantum technology).
